Dinner at Narcoosee’s ~ The Keto Series

Good day to all my fellow and would-be Ketonians!  This week I’m sharing an amazing, and I do mean AMAZING restaurant that would be a great addition to your Disney trips, even if you aren’t staying at the lovely Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Located at the very back of the property hovering over the gorgeous Seven Seas Lagoon is the octagonal shaped Narcoosee’s restaurant.  It offers full service dining in a tiered open space atmosphere making it difficult to find a table with a bad view.

While the focus is clearly seafood, the menu offers something for everyone including grass fed filet or NY Strip as well as pork tenderloin.

With my server’s feedback, I ordered the Caesar salad to start. I’m a bit of a Caesar snob, to be honest.  It’s all about the dressing, am I right?  My Mom found the most amazing Caesar dressing recipe years ago and no restaurant anywhere has ever compared.  She is no longer with us and my feeble attempts at making it produce a pretty good version but hers was always “made with love” and I can’t ever quite duplicate it’s amazingness.  I share all that to tell you that I finally found a Caesar that compares, at Narcoosee’s. Unique in that this salad is topped with crisp pancetta, grated house cured yolks and fried capers, it was truly the perfect blend of flavors with a creamy, well balanced Caesar dressing.  I’ll admit I wasn’t impressed when it was presented in front of me but boy was I blown away in my first two bites.  I wanted a jar of the dressing to go! I will go back just for this salad alone when opportunity presents. If you are a lover of Caesar’s, please go try this one and email me if you agree it’s one of the best.

Moving on to the entree, I had to go with the Butter-poached Twin Maine Lobster Tails, their signature entree.  Not a fan of asparagus and corn not being keto-approved I asked if the Brussels sprouts could be substituted and received the reply Disney service is so well known for, “Of course”.

Again, I’ve had lobster once, if not a dozen times in my life and I have never, ever been quite so impressed by the level of tenderness as I was on these two lobster tails.  Every single bite was heavenly.  It was so tender, in fact, I wondered if they were cooked completely.  (they were!)  I don’t know how to butter-poach anything but if I can find a cooking class for it, consider me signed up! Finally, I can’t forget the Brussels spouts.  Named from their popularity in Brussels, Belgium, this accompaniment was cooked perfectly with lemon and bacon they could not have complimented the lobster better.  Zero bitterness, all flavor, all deliciousness.

Normally I prefer to dine with a companion so I have a little more insight and feedback on the whole menu to offer here.  As it were,  I happened to be treating myself to a day at the Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian and when I stopped by to find a table available at this top tier restaurant, I couldn’t resist taking advantage.  Furthermore, I couldn’t wait to have another meal there before sharing this amazing dining experience with you!
